Why would you care what assumptions people have if you believe hell doesn't exist?

You are right, Rich, that making any assumptions either about my fellow man, or my God, are dangerous and very subject to error. I am critical of my own religion for going too far in purporting to know all the rules that apply to sorting out the entire human race, come the day of judgment. I think we are all in for some major surprises when the Truth is finally revealed to us. My puny brain tells me that the safest course for any of us is to do good works on this earth ... and then hope for the best.

I also think there is more truth to be found in our hearts, than in our heads. My heart tells me that faith is one of the most important of virtues. Even in the course of ordinary human affairs, having faith in something, or someone, no matter how much contrary evidence there is, just feels right to me. If I ever get to be God, that's how I would run things. I would ask my subjects to believe in me, and then I would throw at them all manner and sorts of reasons not to. I would give them free will to believe or not, and then confront them with all sorts of contradictions. My greatest rewards would go to those who never waver in their faith.

Of course, that might make me look like a self-loving, egotistical s.o.b. Then again, that itself might be one of the contradictions. No one says it's easy being God ... but someone has to do it.
