Running AVG and ZoneAlarm has caused no problems for me. I was unaware of any OE problems. Thanks for pointing them out. I failed to do one of the the minimum requirements we should all do before installing anything. Read the FAQ's. I am running OE 6 and have encountered no problems with the plugin. The FAQ's suggest not keeping a large number of messages in your inbox but I have not experienced any problems with this. I guess it depends on what they call a "large" number. I'm guessing AVG is talking about hundreds and I don't have that many.

As far as compressing folders is concerned, I don't know why one would choose to do that either. I have done it just to see what happens. Another flaw in my "computer personality". I tend to get into trouble that way! <gg> Other than to save space if you keep hundreds of messages in each folder I don't know the purpose of that. It is easy to do. Open OEX and go to file/folders/compact.

TC:

Thanks for the information. Have done the instal and all is well after a few problems with OE 5.5. Considering I haven't had a virus checker for a few years, I feel lucky that no virus' were found. Probably still won't open e-mails with attachments though!

Thanks once again

Bob

TC and others using AVG.

Before I do the final instal, sometimes it helps to ask a few questions first. I believe you use Zonealarm and does it work well with it.

I use both AVG and Zonealarm. They work fine together.
