RE:.elements of the 5th SFGA are there and probably some DELTA at times. makes me wonder where the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 8th and 10th SF Groups are

What about the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 9th? Do they not exist?

Bald Eagle...good question.
first let me correct myself...the 8th has been deactivated...a battalion from the 7th, now stationed in Puerto Rico, has absorbed much of that mission. most of the 7th remains based at ft bragg.

there has never been a 2nd or 4th SF Group....the 6th was deactivated quite some time back. the 9th was a fictitious group name used for the "Robin Sage" exercises.

at one time we had the 11th and 12th SF Groups. both were reserve units and both were deactivated about 8 years ago. the 19th and 20th SF National Guard SF Groups are(i believe) still in existence.

we also had a unit called the 39th SF Group. i spent 6 years with them (all but about 40 days of that time was OCONUS)...but i cannot discuss details. most SF folks know a little about the unit but under another nickname. it has been deactivated.
