Hey unclewest,

Yeah, I think that's about how the SF scene looks today. 3/7th is now in Puerto Rico, formerly they'd been forward deployed in Panama; 19th and 20th are still around, with the 19th SFG having one battalion based in Maryland and two in Florida. 20th, I think had a battalion (at least) in Ohio. I'm not sure what might ever have happened to the 10th SFG; a long time ago they had elements in Bad Tolz, Germany, and then (or at the same time) they had a presence in the now-defunct Fort Devens (Mass), but I haven't heard anything since then. Come to think of it, there may be an SFG or part of one in Fort Carson - maybe that's where they are.

I personally don't give a lot of credit to news reports about "special forces," as the reporters could be seeing ODAs, Delta operators, Rangers, ISA agents or units as common as Marines or Civil Affairs officers and wouldn't know what they were looking at in the first place. But, as Bald Eagle said, you can be sure that Delta and whatever the SFG that has responsibility there is are there and working hard, risking their lives every day.

LP.
