Yes, it can get terribly wrong- headed, because obsessive. When the local paper decided to move to a new building, it purposely demolished the old building in the middle of the night, for fear of the preservationists tying up the land until the end of time. My wife was in Civitan at the time, and had lunch with the editor of The Capitol, who confessed the ruse to her, laughing all the way. The building was built in the '30 or '40s, so it was no great historical loss........
