It was a real laugh in the early 1980s. Any environmental issue was treated like plague [run a mile].

Too true. The USA state of Oregon was one of the trail blazers that pollution control was a good idea. Glass bottles, trash, river pollution, etc. Before that everyone was told.. "Sure, it's sad about the environment, but if we clean it up, it costs money and it will make everyone unemployed". Boy, did it take some effort to get out of that mind conditioning. -g-
