"Elderly man charged for Saanich accident
Vehicle driven into window of driver services office

Thursday, January 03, 2002

Vehicle slams into driver's testing office. The man was attempting to pass his driving re-examination when he lost control of his car.

"(The incident began) as he was reversing into a parking spot," explained Constable Marc Chateau of the Saanich RCMP. "I believe he hit the gas instead of the brake pedal at which time the car he was driving knocked back a door of the vehicle that was next to him. Then the car jumped the little sidewalk and broke the window on the motor vehicle branch."

The man has been charged with 'reverse when unsafe,’ which is a $98 fine under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The incident marked the third time the man failed his driving exam.

Two people sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident. "

The driver was assessed a five minute major penalty for boarding and a match misconduct for parking without a license, failing to stay within the lines, and interfering with the official duties of a bureaucrat. The match was delayed while the glass was replaced and a fresh ice surface was laid down.

Regards, Don

To All, Music review. I bought three new CDs and am impressed with all. My favorite is Steely Dan's "Two Against Nature." Nobody else has this sort of jazzy, rock and pop blend. You can tell a Steely Dan song with the first few bars of music before anyone has sung a word. This is one of their best efforts. I would say best except that I sometimes reevaluate later. It is hard to compare new and exciting music to what used to be new and exciting but where you know the words and the hooks by heart. "Cousin Dupree" is my favorite song even if it is about making it with your cousin, something we don't do in my family. That would be an insult to your sister. <VBG> I don't even have a sister, so I won't get my lights punched out for that one.

Sade's Lovers Rock is her best. I know some of the older "hits" are great, but this album makes the use of her odd but enticing voice. It's hard to pick a best song on this one, as the album flows and it's the whole fajita (I don't eat enchilladas on my diet <g>) that counts.

Yes, Paul Simon is a money-making son of a gun and many hate him for that reason. But "You're the One" is a pretty darned good album. I still like the energy of the "Me and Julio" album that I think was self-titled. But this is great stuff, too, and he is too old to have so much energy now. In fact, my favorite song on the album is titled "Old." It had me rolling on the floor as it was so funny and to the point about those of us who are chronilogically challenged.
