Consider this: The 400 wealthiest taxpayers pay about as much in federal income taxes as more than 40 million individuals and families at the bottom of the income scale, according to Internal Revenue Service data.

In 1980, the top 1 percent of taxpayers (about 1 million individuals and families) paid about 19 percent of the federal income taxes; in 1998, the top 1 percent paid 35 percent.

And the same old BS keeps getting thrown out by the democRATic party that Republicans just want to cut taxes for the rich.

No, Republicans want to cut everyone's taxes, but the one's who are already paying the most, get their taxes cut just a little more. It's not rocket science.

Regards,

BobP

I definitely encourage the GOP to make their central theme for the coming year that Kenny Lay, Bill Gates and their neighbors are paying too much in taxes. I think that will definitely win over the middle class wage earners, retirees and those out of work Enron employees.
