milo, I never knew granndparents. attempts were made to force me into the RC church, however by age of 8 it was apparent that it was all falsehood. There are no vestiges of religion in my value system, a do-unto system.
I let people alone in their beliefs and do not scorn them, as I do not like to be scorned in return. I simply do not join them in their beliefs.
All my other values devolve from natural rules of interaction based on mutual respect for turf and property.
I steal not, nor do I allow others to steal from me.
Remember a value system is not based on religion, but on self interest of a group that permits the group tp operate withour fear of loss from other members. Of course, we have locks and police, so it lacks perfection.
My value system is as strong or stronger than your own, save for any religios aspect.
Religious 'value' are not value, they are aspects of control by the priests and are evidenced by the first 4 of Moses commandments, to which I do not addhere or even notice in my day to day life. All the rest of the commandments are just societal rules that almost all societies have in one form or another.
Nothing forces me to follow these rules, they are du-unto rules.
