Milo, Re: "I think it will keep the game tough, but it's NOT the knockout punch everyone was saying it would be."

I never expected a knockout punch. Rather, it will probably be a slow sweep, or the beginning of the end, if you will, of AMD's market share gains. Northwood holds its own against AMD's newest processors, and it's only at the beginning of its life. FWIW, most of the reviews signify that Northwood has a lot of headroom off the bat. Intel probably could have launched at 2.4GHz if competition was any harder. Frankly, 2.53GHz in Q3 should be in the bag, and based on performance right now, I'm guessing it will be higher than that. AMD will be struggling to catch up in frequency - that's their big problem. I'll admit that I still have no idea what to expect from SOI. It has a potential huge benefit, and also a potential huge loss (in terms of cost vs performance). I can tell you're worried, though. Otherwise, you wouldn't be quoting real time market data to try and prove your point. I guess the more concrete data doesn't back you up any more, eh?
