You are very confused.

The US never backed Usama and the Taliban didn't exist until Pakistan essentially invented them long after the Russians were defeated. About 1994, when Clinton was disgracing America.

The story did not begin with Bush. Dig a little deeper, and the story goes that Clinton supported the Taleban taking control of Afghanistan, especially with their capturing of Kabul in September 1996.

But, the theory is, that the pipeline shouldn't go through Russia. Russia is friendly, and the pipeline will probably go through there, even with the new Afghan.

So, it is hogwash.
