John,
It sounds like some how you're PC is going into stand by.
When my Dell goes into standby mode I gotta hit the power button to wake it.
The PC doesn't reboot at this point. It retrieves whatever was in memory before
it went to sleep then wakes up. Next time it happens try hitting the power
button just to establish whether or not you're going into standby. If your PC
reboots you weren't in stand by, if it wakes up you were.
