"I am far from certain that we will be wiped out as a species even by the Sun going red giant (by then many of us will presumably be living off the earth, but we probably would have evolved by normal evolution of by genetic engineering in to new species."

That will never happen and if it did the ones who left would no longer be human.

"Of course I recognize that it is possible we could be wiped out much sooner then that but I think we could survive any remotely likely global warming or ice age. Either could potentially be a disaster but I doubt they could kill all of us."

Have you ever heard of the Spanish Flu epidemic? We can be wiped out by a virus that we can't see or a meteorite or an abrupt change in weather patterns. We are here by very slender threads.

"I also disagree with the assertion that Islam in general is bent on the annihilation of all non Islamic people."

Yeah maybe but better to be safe than sorry. It would be no real loss to the world to send them back to the desert and let them fight each other instead of us.
