I wrote this last night to a friend about this CSCO crappola:

I started thinking today that one of the reasons Chambers doesn't have any
kind of idea where the business will be in the near future is that he isn't
at all clear how they got where they are now. I have a feeling CSCO is one
of those companies that couldn't help being successful....someone had to
provide the defacto standard in order for the Net to grow the way it did. If
it wasn't them it would be some other company. They are successful largely
by the luck of the draw and continue to be successful because its a positive
feedback loop.
