wbmw, NO CPU scales linearly. There are so many other bottlenecks in a modern PC. I personally voted for model numbers that had nothing to do with some reference. I wanted models like cars have. You can have a bmw 325, 330, 330xi, 740, 740is, 740iL, etc..... Who gives a rats ass what they mean. The consumer understands that higher number is better that' all. This way they decouple themselves from any criticism and/or comparison to other makers. Do you think BMW gives a dam on what Mercedes calls their cars? No! And buyers of those cars don't exactly care how high their engines rev or what the exact bhp or torque is. They take the makers word that a 740is is a better car than a 330 and that's it. C
