What my take of the Enron fiasco is that Enron bought several smaller companies and obtained loans through them. Enron listed the money as cash on hand but didn't show the debit (loans) against the value of the smaller companies. They listed the value of the satellite companies in full ignoring the debits. When it came time to pay they didn't have the $$.

Now how this effects President Bush I haven't the foggiest. Yes he got campaign dollars from them when they were thought to be legit but I also know a drug dealer who gave money to Ducks Unlimited.
