Wanna, Re: <...but the trend does suggest that if AMD continues to use their current model number scheme, Intel will eventually surpass them by scaling better. ...>

I've got a bail of straw out in the yard you can have when things get too intense!

The poorly designed P4 is clearly on it's last legs.

But it looks like there may be life in the PIII yet!

Wanna it's not the CPU that is giving those lower delta's. AMD needs dual channels. You should know that by know.

AMD's Athlon needs a larger FSB or dual channels to show it's true power. Even with the nForce AMD's athlon doesn't take advantage of the dual channels for the CPU. It just allows the Video to have it's own channel.
You are so excited about what your seeing you are not thinking about the system as a whole.

When AMD includes dual channel support for Athlon it will really begin to shine.

Beamer - Re: "For the same increase in frequency for Intel and Quantispeed for AMD, Intel gets better scaling - and by AMD's own benchmarks! "

Yes - AMD confirms that the Pentium 4 scales better than the AthyWipers from AMDawg !!!

Thank you, Jerrihad !

re P.S. I also imagine that Northwood should reduce any kind of lead that AMD can claim with their numbers, and accelerate Intel's breakaway from AMD's faulty model numbering scheme

specifically, what do you expect e.g. from P4 @ 2.2 GHZ and beyond
