Christopher Hodgkin-

thanks for your comments.

There's always going to be a more powerful weapon.
And I want to make sure my country is the one to have it.

your country has plenty of weaponry to kill all
human life on the planet. just be careful you
don't let indignance, feelings of superiority
or fear put you in a position where you can be goaded
or forced into using it. otherwise you and i and our
children and grandchildren are gonners.

there's another avenue we should be pursuing. sure,
it includes some force for defense and self
preservation, but it also must include a basic premise
of human brotherhood and the desire for all people
(including those we see as enemies) to share equal
economic, physical, and spiritual opportunity
to grow and express the life-force within them.

It would be nice to think war could ever become
obsolete, and when I was quite young I truly believed
in that as a goal.

difficult life experiences can certainly damage
high ideals. maybe that's why old people don't
live forever... they tire of pursuing their most
difficult goals, become jaded, give up, and settle
for less.

life is perfect... old people die... new ones are born...
humanity lives on and evolves.

humankind is more civilized now than at any previous
time in history... and we still have lightyears to go.

i respect your views and understand how you came
by them. my statements are not intended to offend
you (unless offense sparks growth in either you
or me - and i doubt that will happen).

i've said enough for now... perhaps too much.

i am old and tiring... soon to be replaced by youth
with high ideals.
