To anyone:

I recently put a new Seagate 40 Gig hard drive in my old Dell XPS 166c computer. Everything set up fine. I did a clean install of Windows 98SE and everything loaded correctly until just after I was asked for the serial # of my copy of Windows. The machine said it was looking for installed components. Then the blue screen of death struck with this message:

A fatal exceptionOE has occurred at 0028: c0005257 in VXD VMM(01) + 00004257. The current application will be terminated.

Does anybody know what is going on? I've tried loading Windows several times with the same results.

TIA
