congress.org.

Thanks for the reference. I believe an independent prosecutor should be appointed because the
issue is so complex.

Where is Dick Cheney? Where will this Enron mess lead? It seems to me that noticeably absent from the defense of the administration on the talk shows, is Dick Cheney. While i am sympathetic to those directly affected by the collapse of Enron, I continue to believe that the larger story involves what the influence of Enron on this Country's policy might have been BEFORE it was obvious the company would spiral into bankruptcy. Patrica, could you shed light on the following questions?

What role did Enron have in the deregulation of the power industry in California and did the influence of Enron into the design of the deregulation contribute to the magnitude of the power crunch that effected so many people not just in California but elsewhere?

What role did Enron have in the designing of the Bush energy policy which was his first order of business? Since we know that Enron, and in particular Lay, had direct access to Cheny at the time this policy was decided, shouldn't this be an order of concern for Americans?

This to me is what makes this story so important. If policies were enacted by Bush/Cheney that were in effect crafted by the likes of Enron, what can be expected in the future? Yikes!
