Ian,

I'm absolutely befuddled by this. My mom's old Dell is an XPS P2 450 running Win98. I was considering upgrading to Win XP home edition. It will be interesting to see if I can load it. I do believe Windows XP has written into it code that does not allow you to reload a copy of it onto another computer. This represents problems to those who frequently upgrade their system as Windows XP might think its a different computer and you then have to call Microsoft and explain.....but that wouldn't pertain to your situation. I think I'll call DELL before I upgrade!!

Hope your situation is resolved with no more stress!!
Cheers,
Kaka
