Hello Michael.

I took a look over at the IB thread, and have also spent some time on the IB web site, and so far I must say everything looks pretty good. The bulk of the comments on the IB thread that were negative seemed to be in two groups; 1) apparently they are not easy to get on the phone, and 2) the system beep sounds do not work reliably in current upgrades.

Item 1 is of some concern, in the event I am in a trade when the system crashes. Has this been a problem for you or do they run a fairly stable platform? On the other hand, doing such short term trading, the odds would seem to be in my favor that a system failure does not occur at exactly that time. Being out for the day due to system problems does not bother me all that much. But being unable to get out of a current position is my one big fear...

Item 2 is not a problem. I hate it when my computer beeps at me!

I did have a few other questions if you don't mind...

1) Do you use the web-based setup, or have you downloaded the stand-alone version? I would like to know what thoughts you may have about one vs. the other.

2) They discuss the order placement process on the web site and talk about Native and Simulated market orders to Globex. Is this something one needs to be concerned about? I understand essentially what they are saying, but was not sure what effect, if any, this may have on order processing time?

I guess that's about it, at least for now! Overall the feedback on the various SI threads seems very positive, and in about the same ratio of good/bad opinions as all of the other brokers available. And as you point out, good service at a great rate is a very tempting thing, and not something found very often these days...
