I don't remember such blind following of the actions of Carter or Johnson. It seems to have started with Clinton and no matter what he did, either sexual or lying or attacking the Constitution he was defended. Has there ever been the likes of Carville, Begalla(sp) Lanny Davis, Eleanor Cliff, Richardson, and the many in Congress who had supported him no matter what he did? Even now they are attacking Bush no matter what he does.(with the exception of the war on terrorism which would brand them as unpatriotic) It is a mystery to me.
