Milo, Re: "Dirk Meyer and JS have shown slides of 3 and 4 times faster than Classic Athlon at 1Ghz. Assuming a 2 to 2.5 Ghz Launch of Hammer that would be a 20% to 50% increase in IPC using the 3 times faster rate."

3 or 4 times faster can mean whatever Jerry wants them to mean, including x86-64 optimized synthetic libraries making maximum use out of the new SSE-2 engine, and all in a perfect environment. You should realize that these slides were probably made before Hammer even taped out, which would mean they are results from simulations. Even if I were to believe that Hammer taped out a long time ago, I can assume that it's still not ready to run very strenuous benchmark tests to give Jerry and Dirk their PowerPoint results, or else it wouldn't have been delayed until late this year - or possibly 2003.

Are you claiming that AMD has moved their technology from paper launch to slide launch?
