Bill, sounds kind of gloomy. I think my own view has been distorted by where I work. The Galleria is still doing pretty good, but, then, you can watch Tara Lipinsky practice at the skating rink and it is a destination trip for Latin Americans of means. Got to spend those Argentinos somewhere. <g> On the weekend, I looked at a couple of the other, lesser malls and they looked much like what you reported.

You hit on one thing that's important: if I see a Staples across the street from an Office Depot, I'm going to check their sales. The cheapest one gets my biz. If I see a Circuit City, Best Buy and Gateway store in close proximity, I think the profit margin on pcs may be a wee mite puny. g>

Bill/WA:

Many thanks from all of us for the report. Commentary from each of us on the things we see changing (both positive and negative are excellent grist for the mill. Appreciate your taking the time to provide the details.

Best, Earlie

Hi Bill,

I stumbled across your query... I'm one of those shoppers avoiding everything! I haven't even gone to Costco since October. What's surprising is that Seattle's housing market has held up. When's that going to give up the ghost?
