It's one of those hall-of-mirrors things. Who can you trust?

I don't know, Cobalt. All I do know for sure is that nation-states sometimes do things they don't admit to, friendly fire incidents happen during every war, ships fly false colors, Israel, like every other nation, makes mistakes, and generally speaking, f---ups happen. The pro-Arab sites pay Israel the backhanded compliment of assuming that every act is deliberate and the Mossad never makes mistakes -- have you noticed?

Anyone trying to convince me that all the official investigations were wrong and the attack was deliberate will have to show me a credible motive, which so far they have failed to do.

I read others about the Liberty. I picked those two to demonstrate the two extremes. But I go with you on this for two reasons:

1) The crew of the Liberty had no doubts about the identifying waves made by the Israeli pilots. When it comes to subsequent investigations, they are conducted by govts with motives & agendas. I will always trust a large group of GIs over that.

2) Israeli intelligence has always been the best in the world. Nuclear bomb capabilities in neighboring countries? They're there, destroying it, before we even know there's a problem afoot. They are simply too good at it to make an error of this magnitude.

Trying to discern exactly why they did is a bit of a mystery. But I seriously doubt it was an error.
