I have been trying to figure out why all you loyal Americans have been arguing with a Canadian about whether something we did nearly 60 years ago was, in retrospect, right or wrong. Not that one can ever say for sure whether it was. But even if Solon were right, which he isn't, even if we burned millions of people to death for nothing, which we didn't, but even if we did, so what? There's no lesson to take from that because we're not going to come up against the same scenario again. So, really, who cares what he thinks?
