"So, really, who cares what he thinks?"

We won't come up against the same scenario again but we could find ourselves in a similar situation to those times, so in that one respect I do care what he thinks.

I think this goes well beyond what Solon may think.

Gar Alperovitz, author of The Decision to Drop the Bomb (a frequent source for Solon) is described by Booklist as the "Dean of Revisionist Scholars."

What this is about is revising history. There is a clear agenda here to rewrite history as to support a liberal, anti-Western point of view. Critics of Alperovitz note that in his scholarly treatise on the atomic bombings, he barely mentions the events of the war that led up to them.

I have no idea what Solon's personal views may be. I only know that his posts further the dissemination of this reconstructed version of history on this public forum.

I have no doubt that some of this revisionist material will enter our school classrooms and history textbooks. It probably already has. I personally feel an obligation to challenge and refute such biased accounts, as exemplified by portraying the nation of Japan in 1945 as "helpless."

You have made some great contributions to this discussion, Chris, (as have others) and in my opinion by so doing you are performing a valuable and important service to the truth. To me, this particular debate is far more than just chatting on the Internet.
