craig, i agre that fat, in gen'l, is not the villian it is made out to be. i took issue with the fact that supplementing saturated fat was better than monounsaturated fat given the fact that the protein (meat) in one's diet already contains saturated fat.

that is all. the point you bolded backed this up...

>>The results suggest that total fat consumed has no relation to heart disease risk; that monounsaturated fats like olive oil lower risk<<

no mention of saturated fat here. i eat saturated fat and i'm not scared of a porterhouse or beef spare ribs (my fav when done right :-) i supplement my diet with monounsaturated fat b/c there is evidence it reduces heart disease.

my goal is to eat a protein adequate, carbohydrate adequate and fat adequate (saturated from meat sources and monounsaturated to make up the difference) diet.

the zone wasn't designed to be the best weight loss program on the planet. it was designed to be a healthy diet that automatically leads to weight loss in most overweight individuals (the body is quite complex and one size diet might not fit all).

there is no doubt carbohydrates are the most abused drug in america.
