It's mind over matter, dude.
Like the dude who blows out a brain artery with that low cholesterol.
If i told you it was all about guilt...
Would you believe me.
The mind body connection.

I say laugh and cry a lot
everyday.
a Lot of hugs
Kisses.
Telling the one you love.
You won't worry about your heart.
And when it's your time.
You won't worry about it then either.

Waking you up at night.
Your sweating your ass off.
Damn,
I shouldn't have ripped that dude off.
Damn,
I shouldn't have slept with that woman.
Oh man.
I gotta' get all these covers off me.
My heart is racing.
I should have eaten that cheesecake.
I'm sweating.
Can't stop my chest and face from buzzing.
i'm rich.
it's so hot in here.
Pounding on my chest.
fight or flight.

All that stuff is fear based thinking, dude.
The pharmacy companies
Get rich off of fear.
Health and beauty aids.
Fear.
Fitness.
Probably fear.
Being ugly.
It's fear based.
Why are you afraid of being ugly.
Why are you afraid of smelling bad.
What the hell is that smell, dude.
Makes' me afraid to smell something bad.
I always check the bottom of my shoes.

Dude,
According to Mary Ann Williamson,
'A course in miracles.'
We are motivated by two things.
Love and Fear.
The masses.
Group think.
Driven by fear.
That's all there is.
When a culture is moving strongly in one direction.
It's all about fear.

>>Just a little update. I have a posting about 10 spots down on the list. I am now 4 months into the Zone and have lost a total of 60 pounds. My weight loss has now stabalized into the 1-2 pounds a week that is reccommended and the lifestyle is now much easier to maintain. You just learn what foods to have in your fridge. If you are considering the zone, don't, just do it. Nothing I've ever read has ever made this much sense. I have a friend that has left the Atkins diet and is now having much more success with the Zone. She's not nearly as hungry or tired as she was on the Atkins diet. That is the key to this plan. If you are doing right you just don't get the cravings like you used to. Good Luck.<<

>>If you are a diabetic, or have a friend or loved one who is a diabetic, then the results I achieved with the Zone diet should be of great interest to you. I have been a diabetic since 1977, and over the years have developed just about every major complication this disease brings on: blindness in one eye, heart disease, kidney disease, neuropathy, and foot ulcers. A friend at work told me about the Zone diet, so I gave it a try. That was a little over two weeks ago. The results have been nothing short of amazing. I reduced my insulin from 95 units to 34 units, my blood sugar is now consistently at or close to normal levels (compared to 200+ before starting the Zone diet), blood chemistries, including creatinine (an indicator of kidney disease), have improved, I can now exercise on a NordicTrak for 30 minutes with no angina for the first time since my heart attack, and even a foot ulcer I have lived with since 1991 has closed and remained closed without the tissue breaking down. And, although I didn't start the diet with weight loss as a primary concern, I did lose 14 pounds (much of it being excess fluid I was retaining due to kidney problems). I have followed the Zone diet closely, and was astounded not to be hungry. My doctor couldn't believe it, but there was no refuting the blood results and the dramatic overall improvement to my health. This was all accomplished with the Zone diet. Perhaps I'm an extraodinary example, but if it worked for me, I'm sure other diabetics can expect at least some improvement. So please, get the word out. A lot of people can look forward to a better life, regardless of the severity of their diabetes. And if you're not a diabetic, imagine how the Zone can help you maintain excellent health all your life.<<

>>I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes on July 20, 1999. I started the Zone Plan that same day. I weighed 300 lbs, blood sugar was at 270, & body fat around 40%. I was in bad shape to say the least. I had heard of the Zone and was given Dr. Sears book by my brother this past spring but didn't really pay it much attention. That all changed on that fateful day. Now only 7 weeks later I'm at 265 lbs, blood sugar runs around 105, and body fat down to 35.5%. That 35 lbs was all fat. For the first time in a long time I am confident of where I am headed. (Down to 195 lbs.) The best part of the diet has been the complete lack of hunger associated with most diets. If you have problems with this be sure to check out "Mastering the Zone" by Dr. Batty Sears. Thank you bro' and good luck to anyone out there who is taking back control of their life. e-mail: dsommers@arlingtonhs.com<<

>>I started the zone diet on 11/15/98. Weight 253, Blood Pressure 150/102, Triglycerides 337, Total Cholesterol 249, HDL 44, LDL 138.

I had never been successful on a diet before, although I had tried several. My experience proves that the zone diet works for me.

As of 3/18/99: Weight 212 (lost 41 lbs.), Blood Pressure 118/80, Triglycerides 111, Total Cholesterol 167, HDL 52, LDL 93.

My doctor is impressed with the results, but he has warned me about the "high" protein intake. He recommends 60 grams per day. With a lean body mass of 174 lbs. and a moderately active lifestyle, I consume about 100 to 115 grams per day. My last blood test showed the since starting the zone diet, the protein in my blood has dropped from 7.9 to 7.3g/dl, well within normal range.

As Dr. Sears says, this is a protein "adequate" diet. Best of luck to all you other zoners on this great lifestyle change.<<

>>Tomorrow will mark my 2-month anniversary as a Zoner. I was diagnosed in December with sleep apnea and now use a CPAP machine. This has proven an effective band-aid, but I desperately want to sleep "unencumbered" again! I had heard about The Zone nutrition program from a couple of friends of mine and was amazed at their results--so I tried it, supplementing the diet with lots of walking and nightly weight lifting.

Now, two months later, I've lost 20 lbs. according to the scales (but actually more, since I've added muscle). Best of all, my total cholesterol has gone from 305 to 199 and my triglycerides from 495 to 154. My ratio of HDL to triglycerides went from 18.3 to 5.5. I've had high cholesterol for 10 years, now it's normal in two months!

But the best part is how I feel: I wake up rarin' to go, my energy level stays up during the day, and I come home from work with enough energy to be a husband, father, handyman, etc. Ask anyone that knows me and sees me on a regular basis and they will tell you: I *AM* a whole new person now.

If you're unsure of trying The Zone, my advice is to quietly follow the "eyeball method" as described in Mastering the Zone for just a couple of weeks. If you don't feel differently about life, food, and everything by the end of the trial period then by all means go back to what you were doing before. But, chances are, it'll work for you just as it's worked for me, my friends (thanks, Steve and Wayne), and all the other people that have made entries in this section!<<

>>Started in December 2000, at 278lbs. I knew I was a little heavy but when I noticed that I got out of breath going up stairs I knew it was time to change. First thing that went was the soda pop. (2-3 cans a day). Next, came needed information (this is where the Zone comes in). All of a sudden it is March 2001, and I'm at 225lbs. Wow that was easy so far! I can easily go up stairs without even a slight increase in breathing.

If you are overweight, I can't STRESS enough how easy it is to become informed and to shed unwanted pounds. Also it makes a HUGE difference in how you feel.

It has been at least a decade since I have seen 200lbs so I look forward to that.<<

>>I STARTED THE ZONE DELIVERY SYSTEM ON SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2000. AT THE TIME I WAS 240 POUNDS ON A 5'5" FRAME (55 YEARS OLD). I HAD TRIED SO MANY, SUCH AS ATKINS, ONLY WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS. I WAS ON A BETA BLOCKER MEDICATION TO CONTROL MY BLOOD PRESSURE, AND I COULD NOT EVEN WALK UP A HILL WITHOUT BEING COMPLETLY OUT OF BREATH. I NEEDED SOMETHING TO GET ME MOTIVATED AND REDUCE MY SIZE!

WELL IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER 27TH, 22 DAYS LATER I LOST THREE INCHES ON MY HIPS AND THREE INCHES ON MY WASTE - ALONG WITH 15 LBS., AND AM OFF MY HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION AFTER WEANING MYSELF OFF - YESTERDAY I WENT TO MY DOCTOR AND HE SAID I DON'T NEED TO TAKE THE MEDICATION ANY MORE SINCE MY PRESSURE HAS STABILIZED ON THE PROGRAM.

I WOULD LIKE TO TELL THOSE OUT THERE THAT ARE ON BETA BLOCKERS THAT YOU HAVE TO MODIFY YOUR ZONE PROGRAM IN ORDER TO GET OPTIMUM RESULTS. I CONSULTED WITH THREE DIETICIANS ON THIS WHO ALL CONCURRED. THE BETA BLOCKERS ACTUALLY PREVENT YOU FROM BEING FULLY IN THE ZONE. YOU NEED TO MODIFY THE CARBS.

I HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO - BUT I AM VERY MOTIVATED. I WILL BE STOPPING THE DELIVERY SYSTEM IN ABOUT A WEEK, AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY FEED BACK FROM OTHERS. I AM GOING TO BE PREPARING MY OWN MEALS AND SNACKS AND APPRECIATE ANY HELP I CAN GET.<<

>>I am continually amazed as to how well this plan works! I have lost 28 lbs. in 6 weeks - and without being hungry once! And this even includes not following the plan strictly at every meal. I have to admit, the pessimest inside me keeps wondering when the weight loss will stop. But for now, I'm on that long (but "un-painful") road.<<

>>I have been on the High protein diet for 7 months. I was starting middle age spread. I found that you cannot eat all the fat you want i.e. butter, cheese, because it will make you fatter. My thighs and hips are bigger than they have ever been and I only take in 30 grams of carbs a day. I love butter and goat cheese and since the diet said fat wont make you gain fat, I ate as much as I wanted. I havent gained a ton of weight but the fat on my thighs and hips is more than I have ever had a nd I had to go up a pant size. What do you think about that? I talked to some weight lifters and they knew that the fat would add on fat to my body. Why do you say that fat wont make you fat?????<<

>>I started the Zone October 20, 1999. After just a few weeks the results were so dramatic I posted my success story. Of course, any diet is only as good as it stands up over the long haul, so here's my update. The Zone is a lifestyle change a diabetic can live with. If you're a diabetic, you know what I mean by that. We carry enough bad news around with us, and trying to stick to a diet is especially tough on top of everything else we have to put up with.

The Then...Now numbers are so dramatic I still find it hard to believe, but I have the paperwork to back it up.

THEN NOW
Blood Sugar 200 - 300 85 - 126
Cholesterol 224 168
Blood Pressure 160 / 95 140 / 80
Insulin 95 units daily 12 units daily
Kidney Function 3.9 2.7
Weight 280 220
LDL 180 98
Angina Severe None
Hunger All the time Never (Honest!)

In less than four months, I have been able to slam the brakes on diabetic complications, and this is from a person who suffered from all the major complications diabetes brings on. I hope my story, and the many similar success stories from diabetics, offers the proof you need to at least give the Zone an honest try. Yeah, you have to do some math, and buy a food scale, but it's what you won't have to do that makes it all worth it.

Get the word out, folks. The Zone is THE answer for diabetics trying to cope with a devastating disease. And, as I said the last time, if the Zone can literally cure diabetes, it's got to be even more effective for healthy people.

Thanks Dr. Sears. I can't speak for anyone else, but you certainly gave me my life back. That's a gift beyond any price.<<

if the zone is so wrong, thser folks don't want to be right! -vbg-
