>>When is Photoshop coming out for X? March? May?<<

Marc -

Latest word is still "some time in the second quarter." Let's start a pool. I'll take June 25.

Seriously, I hope it's sooner than that. The sooner the better. Maybe Adobe can even surprise us on the upside and deliver in February. Ya think?

>>And add in just enough G4 mhz upgrade so that people realize that this is the best they'll see until summer and pros will buy.<<

I won't be buying an iMac at any price. Too small of a screen. I need screen real estate. I won't be buying anything unless it's really compelling. Like a lot of pros I've got two macs and a PC. I can render huge stuff on one of the other machines if I need to while I work on my G4.

You can't add a screen can you?

Marc,

Went into an Apple Store yesterday and it was full of people. Very well done with plenty of machines for the curious to play with. The iPod is nicer than I thought it would be too. Had to leave the store because I felt the impulse to upgrade the old Wallstreet.

Lots of software but I wish they had more titles on display. They could double the selection without taking up more space because the popular titles take up multiple spots. Even if some titles don't move very often, it does let the uninformed see what is available and helps to destroy the idea that there is no software for the Mac.

The new iMac was getting lots of attention but I think the laptops were about as popular. The store here seems to be a relative hit even the non-Mac people at work like it. If MacOS X runs the Unix/Linux apps these people use then you could see engineers start buying it over a PC upgrade. The fact that MacOS X is based on BSD Unix does matter to the tech crowd. Windows no longer has the interest of my peers and these people were the ones who latched onto Windows development from the start. Linux is building in momentum now and MacOS X could benefit from the development effort. MacOS X is the best of both worlds, really. Apple has done the best job of making a consumer Unix system.

Cheers,
Norm
