I would say 2 things about that rule.

It is wrong when someone is clearly not trying to throw the ball to end up calling the lost ball anything but a fumble.

I would also say that is the first time I've seen it applied that way. Having watched Lord Favre on many occasions lose the handle on the ball in much the same way as Saturday and they have all been called fumbles.

I'm not arguing that the rule was incorrectly applied or that the Raider's were robbed but I think that rule needs to be tweaked and then consistently applied.
