No computers are easy to use. While most here probably find both Macs and PCs easy to use, this largely comes from an underlying like of computers in general, We don't mind screwing around to find/fix a problem. If my similarly complex car had so many quirks, I would go ballistic! Having done phone support for my mother's Mac and her subsequent PC, I realize that all computers are still very difficult for most people, and exceptions to the normal flow bring productivity to a halt. I've seen the same thing in the corporate world, with IT called in for the stupidest things. People frequently sell Macs as the computer for the common man. Take the "common" man and drop a pre-configured PC or Mac in front of him, and he will have equal success with both. This is how a majority of computers are bought and used. Hell, most PCs I run across still have the "Join AOL" advertising icon on the desktop, because few people greatly customize their setup. Yes, you, me, lots of people do extensively "play" with their computers--and we also post on investment groups on our leisure time--that's not normal by any measure! The other 90% are more passive. They just want to get their mail, write some docs, view some PPT files, and surf the web, all of which are equally easy on either platform (IMHO). Following this same thread, the number of people who want to burn CDs (which seems to be every Apple owner's goal in life, judging from this thread), I bet, is quite small. A far larger fraction (like the 8-18 segment) probably want to play games (in which case they are better served on a PC), and the rest (majority) just want to do the very basics--as easily as possible.
