Arafat also knew about the 9/11 attacks against America. He might not have known the details, but he knew about them.

The attacks against America on 9/11 have empowered the Arabs to feel that they can destroy Israel and get away with it, especially considering the weak support for Israel by most of the nations of the world.

I doubt Arafat knew any particulars; we now know that most of the highjackers themselves didn't know the details before hand. Bin Laden had warned in general terms that he was planning big things and I'm sure stuff gets passed around on the terrorist grapevine.

The more that the common nature of Militant Islam is exposed to the West, the harder it will be the prevent the natural US-Turkey-Israel-India alliance from being formed in response to it. This administration does not seem fixated on coalition building with the Arab world.
