I sure hope AMD has made the SOI investments it needs for Hammer. Anything else would be a catastrophe from AMD and should prompt anyone to seriously consider their position.

If you mean that the investment might be for a joint-venture 300mm SOI-cabable fab, then that's an altogether different story ;-).

(My guess would be the JV fab with UMC)

ng, I agree with fyo's answer. This is probably a joint venture for an SOI production facility. The process is ironed out by now. And I doubt anyone outside AMD and UMC will be able to "invest" in this venture.
