an MD in communist China when she defected.
I was on a project with a Chinese man a couple months ago. He said he was from Bejing so I asked him if he was there at the time of Tienemann Square. He told me a facinating story which began with the importance of going to work promptly and reliably if you wanted to succeed. This led him to ride his bicycle past the tanks & soldiers on his way from his home to his office just at the time they opened fire. He said he jumped in the storm sewer in the "no-man's land" between the square and the soldiers as they mounted their attack. He said he didn't dare crawl out until dark and in the mean time a tank had crushed his bicycle.
