Our School Division is not a high-profile target for viruses. We have coverage for the most common viruses, obscure viruses don't worry me so much.

We are now using AVG Antivirus but there is also a web-based Command Antivirus Scanner (also free) which can be used in addition to AVG if desired.

moving from McAfee to AVG

I wouldn't suggest that one anti-virus program is better than another. AVG just seems less invasive on my system than Norton. The reliability of the various anti-virus programs would rely on whose tests were being run and what they were testing. The recommendation that I listened to when trying AVG was from a highly respected source (not trying to be evasive...I just don't remember where I saw it). It may or may not be better than McAfee. McAfee is listed on the site posted earlier as Network Associates. It had a high rating.

Thanks again for the virus bulletin link. #reply-16965336

Reading some of the links listed on the site that you posted I may have found the reason why my Pentium II wasn't acting like I thought it should.

" Norton AntiVirus 2002
Size does matter and Norton is far too big for many systems to handle. Requiring over 50Mb of available drive space, NAV 2002 is larger than some operating systems. Regardless, when it can be used, it provides supreme protection with a host of desirable features. On a P4 system with 256Mb RAM and 20Gb available drive space, there was no noticeable impact on system performance. It crippled a P2. "

Guess what that machine is...a P2. I uninstalled Norton System Works 2002 and it runs like a new machine. Will install AVG tomorrow.
