Tom,

Uncle Tom (tm)
n. Offensive

A Black person who is regarded as being humiliatingly subservient or deferential to white people.

My question is where does Chris, Rich or anyone else get the moral authority to make that determination? What are the attributes of an Uncle Tom (to them)?

1.) Going to graduate school?

2.) Being chosen for a top position in a Republican administration.

3.) Working in the financial district?

4.) Voting conservative?

5.) Refusing to "stay put" in the "hood" where they can be counted on to vote Democrat.

I still don't think that "Uncle Tom", is a racist term. It is obviously derisive and pejorative. The author of the book, Uncle Tom's Cabin was against slavery. Somehow some brilliant people have helped not only to change the meaning of the words but to popularize and perpetuate their use with the aim of once again chaining a group of people to a line of thought consistent with that of the new masters. Thomas, you must admit that it would take a brave soul to attempt to run away and risk being flogged with the the term "Uncle Tom".

To simply call the term racist, does not do justice to what is really involved, and allows those who support its' use to not be held to account.
