David ... as of Fri Jan 25 ... the commercials are net long or short the futures as follows ...

DJIA [DJ] ... long 7,139 contracts

Nasdaq 100 [ND] ... short 3,432 contracts

S&P 500 [SP] ... short 51,200 contracts

... of these, I only follow and trade the S&Ps - they are very liquid, even at the mid-hours of the night (Eastern Standard Time) ...

... an important point in my mind is, that while the commercials are not as net short the S&Ps as they have been, prior to about June, 2000, they had never been more net short than about 16,000 contracts ... that is not at all bullish to me ...
