Maybe you lost a lot of money in one of his stock-tips, I really don't know. I couldn't say I cared about any one writer, thinker, or economist enough to get that worked up over them one way or another. Their thoughts are their thoughts, accept them, or don't. Read them or ignore them. It's up to us as individuals. When talking about the other issues regarding "what has the internet given us". It looks like you've fallen into the typical liberal pessimistic view "the glass is half empty". Along with the failures the internet has given us, and the gross sideshow of pornography, gambling etc. It has also provided many wonderful things. Grandmothers can now talk to their grand kids for pennies and stay in touch at the drop of a hat (anywhere in the world). We have access to information and knowledge only dreamed about a few years ago. The internet has given corporations the ability to lower information costs, speed up payments, and share performance metrics in an instant across the globe. It has allowed businesses to streamline operations, creating inventory flow systems based on "just in time" principles which were only dreamed of a few years ago. These improvements have been instrumental in keeping inflation down. The internet has also allowed us to bridge the distances of cultural divide across the globe, and shorten those distance to a flick of a mouse. It has been a catalyst for greater international understanding. The internet has also made it possible for the disabled, the elderly, the shy, and the recluse to open up to others. Writing again has taken on new meaning as many of us attempt to put our thoughts to keyboard. The internet has been a wonderful tool for the small investor, who now has access to information only the wealthy had before. It has leveled the playing field and given the average family a chance to participate in the capitalist market. Lastly, it has provided many high-paying jobs across the entire american economy. In totality, the internet has been a big plus, not a big minus.
