TYC in play.......

Tyco in Talks With Potential Buyers of Its Units, WSJ Reports
By Edvard Pettersson

Exeter, New Hampshire, Jan. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Tyco International Ltd. is holding preliminary discussions with companies interested in buying parts of the company, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unidentified sources.

Tyco received inquiries from General Electric Co. and other companies that may result in bids, the paper said, citing unidentified people familiar with the discussions. Tyco said last week it will split itself into four companies. The plan to spin off separate units could be an elaborate way of putting them up for sale, the paper said, citing unidentified investment bankers.

General Electric's GE Capital unit has contacted Tyco about its financial services business and is in early discussions about a bid which could be as high as $10 billion, the Journal said, citing unidentified people familiar with the talks.
