<We are increasingly getting firms which are conceptual, and Enron being a classic case whose value depends on reputation and trust. And if you breach that, that value goes away very rapidly.">

Exactly... what's a trading company worth if no one will trade with you.... see my earlier post, company traded for essentially zero... talent traded for a % of profits.

Mqurice, the azteca and their fellows the maya and inca may not have had six billions population, but they most certainly did have 'life and times, creativity, energy, needs and desires' ... they also gave to the world chocolate, maize, chiles, tomatos, potatos ... these were sophisticated cultures, at least as advanced in many ways as european or asian groups of the time .... and they didn't make as big a thing of their gold as did the europeans who decided to steal it, either

But here we are, we've all progressed/regressed to the state of europeanness now ... Jay has good advice for you imho ... here's something to consider, a smallish Québec firm on track to positive cash flow of two loonies per share this year, trading for just a little over two loonies - ca.finance.yahoo.com
... nothing azteca about it at all, strictly a buncha frogs -g-

[edit] - btw, that 20/02/2002 date is actually 12 Aknal 1 Kayab by the maya calendar - michielb.nl ... sort of putting a lot of faith in ole Pope Gregory there, aren't you -g-
