Also, how safe would it be for the world, if easing the sanctions sped up Iraq's chemical, biological and nuclear weapons programs

First of all, I should make a point clear. I have done so already, but a double check here is worthwhile. I am not suggesting "easing sanctions". I am suggesting imposing sanctions in the spirit of the UN resolution 661. It was intended to stop Iraq from importing goods for WMD programs. The real stop to the Iraq WMD program was the UN inspectors. While they operated, weapons and programs were destroyed. When they got thrown out, WMD programs went ahead. The sanctions do very little compared to what the UN inspectors did.

The time to take Saddamn & co to task was right at the time the UN inspectors got thrown out. Time will tell (imho) that the sanctions did very little to stop Saddamns WMD programs.

In the interests of world peace, I would suggest the USA over zealous application of Iraq sanctions be stopped, as it only hurts the Iraq civilian population, and send a disturbing clear message to Saddamn that things are a changing once again. That the last 10 yrs that Iraq has allowed for it's citizens to suffer, and thumb it's nose at the USA, are over.

Iraq is developing WMD, and Saddamn & Co are wackcos.
Time to change the tune from 10+ yrs of doing the same thing and hoping for the best (good try but didn't work)

<< You know as well as do that whole loads of people die in the USA because they do not get appropriate treatment soon enough. >>

Another biased statement bashing America. Of course there is some truth to this, but this can be said about any country. You comment is disproportionate to the actual situation.

Well, sorry, replace "USA" with "UK" or any other modern country in the world. The purpose of that paragraph (and the ones following it) were to illustrate the problem how sanctions can kill civilians. The grieving relatives can hear a sermon how it's all the USA's fault from Saddamn to boot.

I have not "twisted" any facts imho. Just read 'em again and form your own conclusion. I'm afraid you will have to look for your anti USA bashing demons elsewhere.
