Re SLC Games - people who care:

1. My brother and his family who live in SLC
2. Sugarloaf ME'ers - we have a local graduate from Carrabassett Valley Academy (ski/prep school)Bode Miller that is ripping up the gates (sl and gs)
Look for him -

other than that, I am waiting for the World Cup.

Winter Olympics, or Olympics in general. I'm amused how new sports are continually invented. Some of these, there cannot be more than a handful of people in the world who even participate.
Anything to do with luge, bobsled or the latest version - Skeleton if I'm not mistaken. It isn't like your teenage kid and his buddies are going to head up to Tahoe for a weekend of bobsled. It isn't likely that anyone is, except for those handpicked few people who want to go to the Olympics (for the experience, for the resume, ect..). This is true of speed skating and whatever the hell is short-track speed skating.
At least curling is a real sport that real people participate in!!
And how did a "biathlon" get to be a sport?? CC skiing and shooting?? I can see it now: some guy back in time wasn't good enough to qualify for his countries CC ski team. It just so happened that his other hobby - he was a pretty good marksman. So it was a natural - combine shooting and skiing and this guy is gold.
Presumably there is a combination of sports and activities that I could assemble that would place me among the best in the world. Let's see: Windsurfing, combined with Bowling, combined with SEGA's "John Maddens NFL 2002!!!", add in technical analysis of securities. A quadrathlon! None of the individual "events" am I particularly good at, but combine them and I'm gold!!
My point being??

I guess I really don't have one. Is it a good time to add HC??
