Actually Intels marketing has done ZERO about AMD PR ratings. Intel lost this battle.

Intel marketing will have a field day with this. Just watch.


The very last thing Intel wants is to draw attention to the issue of actual performance vs. the number on the box.

With a basic 20 to 28 stage pipeline vs. a 12 stage pipeline, P4 takes about twice as long to process an instruction as Athlon at a given nominal MHZ. Pipelining lets them make up for some of that difference, some of the time.
