the disproportionate reaction to provocation... Yes, I know that's what you meant. Well, it is a guy thing. It gets pretty deep into the male psyche, in terms of a challenge to manhood. It's pretty ingrained in males not to back away from a challenge. Sometimes these incidents do involve a woman, as in the case of having your wife or lady companion insulted or inappropriately touched. The male hormones arise and demand a response, which often quickly becomes a physical one. And matters escalate. One would wonder whether most women would truly want it to be otherwise?
