Re : Verizon rep. demonstrating 1X technology -- it is a bit hard to believe that Qualcomm was "slammed" on at least two different occasions when someone (New York Times (?)) started "talking up" the idea that what Verizon "really might do" was :

Discard their CDMA infrastructure.

Put in GSM.

Then, put in GPRS.

Then, put in EDGE.

Then, put in WCDMA.

Did any "uppity" person ask the rep. why Verizon decided not to pursue that "great" Euro-centric evolution path ?

Jon.

I admire VZ for taking a shot at the AOL title. Why not charge $30 a month for ISP services at 144 kbps. It is a modest premium to $20 dial up speeds and a modest discount to DSL speeds.
