You and the NY Times want to try to repeal the First Amendment, go right ahead. Have to fight you on that one though.

Lawmakers would do well to note that American democracy is also being attacked from within by a poisonous system of unregulated campaign donations.

Unregulated speech can be messy, but I'll take freedom over tidyness any day.

Comparing apples and oranges. Further, the NYT is not a credible opinion source. It does not reflect mainstream American opinion or values, and is hopelessly and shamelessly left-wing biased.
