And Richard Nixon was forced to resign, to avoid impeachment. Does that somehow make Clinton better? I am not a Nixon fan, nor is anyone in the immediate vicinity.

Franklin Roosevelt had an affair with Lucy Mercer. That is known. The matter of Dwight Eisenhower and his driver is speculation. She denied it, no one has proven it. But it doesn't matter. Clinton was not impeached for having an affair. He was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice, in the matter of Paula Jones. When all of this first came out, Starr hoped to use it to break through the cover- up in the Whitewater matter, but it didn't work, and he was left with the case at hand. I am sure he wanted something meatier. Nevertheless, Clinton deserved to be impeached (the effective equivalent of censure) for what was known of the matter. Whether he deserved actual removal is debatable. I would say yes, not so much for the legal issues as for the generally disgraceful way he was prepared to trash Monica and sacrifice friends like Betty Curry to cover his butt. A person of honor would have owned up to it and resigned, or at least done public penance, from the start........

In what parallel universe is RMN adored by the right? Right wing Richard M. "We are all Keynsians now." Nixon. Conservative R.M. "Wage and price controls" Nixon.

So he was anti-communist. So what? So was LBJ.

I've GOT something on one of the far right's darlings....Richard M. Nixon.

Ann, consider that here you've said "Neither man(Nixon or Clinton) had the qualities necessary to be President of the U.S."

You elsewhere argued to me that Clintons impeachment should have been held off for suits after he left office, since you felt it endangered our security to hobble his Presidency.

Seems to me that a person truly believing the above directly quoted, would quickly accept all attempts
to remove the likes of either of these two. NO?
