Just curious: do you have any idea of the circumstances surrounding the approval of the slots? Were they having a particular problem with personnel gambling off base, getting jammed up with bookies? Were soldiers taking off for Monte Carlo on weekend passes, then getting stranded when they got tapped out? Or is your judgment of the matter suspended in thin air?

Whaddya mean? That is a manually operated ballistic sphere target range. Definitely military! :-)

I've got to agree with you about the slots and disagree with Neocon. It appears to me that by his logic, whorehouses should be built on the base because the men are going to do it anyway and they can be saved from worse trouble if they're on base. Maybe the women soldiers can staff them; that way, you can order them to have medical inspections. Give them something useful to do, too. :-)

OTOH, there is some justification. O Clubs and NCO Clubs are normally profit-making operations. The differenece is that they don't embody the element of deception and fraud involved in gambling.
